With a Mac, using a different partition type (GUID) and with the AFPS filesystem, its plausible that a PC only application will not work too well on a Mac drive. I created a GPT partition map on the new drive, and started up Acronis, it created all of the partitions that windows uses (or creates) Windows doesn't really play nice with external USB drives, so it didn't produce a bootable device, but my aim was to copy the internal to the external and then swap them. Obviously I'm using a PC since I updated my SSD but I found that it cloned all of the partitions on the internal drive to the external drive. I got a copy of True Image when I purchased an SSD and the thing worked great.
